The doctoral study programme of fashion design Fashion Theory and Body Design meets all necessary criteria of the contemporary approach to research, education, interactive relationship between lecturers and candidates in creating the subject area for digital age. The study is interdisciplinary (network of social and human sciences, artistic practice at faculties, museums and alternative institutions of knowledge and creative artistic design practice); it is collaborative because it connects scientists and artists, designers and media workers, communication specialists and marketing agencies; the study is conceived in partnership with the fashion design of Croatia and private associations of entrepreneurs interested in developing new fashion "brands".
The doctoral study of fashion design enables horizontal and vertical mobility of candidates in the interfaculty and institutional process of research and education. The study is organized in collaboration with Croatian and international institutions of higher education, scientific institutes and museums (Faculty of Philosophy, Academy of Dramatic Arts, Academy of Fine Arts, Institute of Art History, Museum of Contemporary Art).
Competences of the Ph.D. in the field of Fashion Design include the acquirement of knowledge, techniques and skills in social and human sciences, art and visual communications necessary for the solution of practical problems in the culture of spectacles and on the global market of intellectual services. After completion of the doctoral study (passed exams, written and defended doctoral dissertation) there is a possibility for the continuation of scientific research work at the Faculty of Textile Technology, other institutions of higher education in Croatia and abroad, at institutes and academies of arts, and postdoctoral education in Europe and USA.
Structure and organization of doctoral study
