Course summary 6 (3+3+0)
ECTS 7
Knowledge verification preliminary exam, oral exam
Precondition for testing Fibres I
Lecture type lectures, practice
Exercise type laboratory practice
Subject content Fibre systematisation and nomenclature. Nanometric, microfibrile and morphological fibre hierarchy composed of flexible and rigid polymer molecules. Structure of inorganic fibres. Fibre geometry. Mechanical, thermal, optical and dielectric properties of conventional fibres. Relation of fibres to moisture and water. Properties in use, durability and ageing of fibres. Psychophysiological comfort of textile materials. Metrological principles of fibre structure and property testing.
Aim of course Familiarity with molecular and super-molecular structure of fibres enables the comprehension of the interdependence of fibre structure and properties. The knowledge acquired is the basis for understanding of textile product properties and correct selection and application of fibres in practice. Laboratory practice develops the students work autonomy and responsibility to the imposed task.
