Study, Module Textile Technology and Engineering - graduate, Module Clothing Engineering
Course summary 3 (2+1+0)
ECTS 4
Knowledge verification oral exam
Lecture type lectures, practice
Exercise type laboratory practice
Subject content Risk groups of dangers: chemical, thermal, radioactive, biological and mechanical. The method of analysing risk. Assessment of toxicity. Thermal and RCB accidents. Clothing for thermal protection. Reducing the level of thermal flow (CIO index). Thermal balance of the system environment-clothing-body. Chemical protective clothes (CPC). Requirements for the materials used to manufacture the CPC, as dependent upon the type of contamination, concentration and aggregate state of the contaminant. Multifunctional protective clothing for special purposes (ballistic clothing and airbags). The strategy of functionally designing clothing by the type of danger. Defining the situation. The analysis of critical factors. The requirement imposed on design. The requirements imposed by dynamic anthropometry. The requirements of wearing and use. Confirming the design criteria. Manufacture and verification of a prototype.
Aim of course The content of the course is harmonised with the regulations and requirements of the EU, concerning the obligatory safety measures in working systems. It enables the students to get a clear view of the topic of contemporary protective clothing (used at high-risk working conditions), manufactured as high-tech products. The knowledge acquired will be enhanced by the necessary knowledge of special design and construction, as well as by the application of special techniques of manufacturing this type of clothing.
