Subject content INTRODUCTORY LECTURES (4-6 hours) - orientation towards subject, repetition of elementary concepts and ideas essential for understanding of further lectures: amount of substance, concentration, activity, energy, electromagnetic radiation, quantization of energy, data, precision and reproducibility. The MAIN CONTENT is composed of two chapters: EQUILIBRIUM and CHANGE. The content of EQUILIBRIUM: ideal and real state of gases and solutions, lows of thermodynamics, physical transformations of pure substances, phase diagrams, chemical and electrochemical equilibrium. The content of CHANGE: processes of molecular motions (viscosity, difusion, conductivity), rates of chemical reactions and processes at interfaces.
Aim of course This course develops common competences of future process engineers. Fundamental ideas about the state of gases, internal energy, enthalpy, entropy, Gibbs energy, chemical potential, properties of simple mixtures are the backgrounds for understanding the equilibria of chemical processes as well as the rate of chemical reactions. On the other side, the processes of textile finishing are typical interfacial processes, such as, wetting, adsorption and electrokinetics. In this sense, this course develops also specific competences. Numerical exercises and problem solutions with strict application of the rules of International System of Quantities and Units, contribute significantly to a common technical culture and thus, to the competence of future process engineers.
