Subject content Research of current trends and sketching techniques ; research on fabric and its function stressed. Students test patterns in muslin for fit and proportion. Characteristics and drapability of fabrics and how these effect the development of silhouette, design and style. Appropriate aspects of sewing techniques for various fabrics are explored. Examination of the fundamentals of Couture and expansive Ready-to-wear. Each student developes a fashion collection of designs. A portfolio of the project is prepared and presented for review.
Aim of course The aim of this Course is to develop creative and individual designer. Students must be capable of designing full collection: planning, research, explore draping techniques, designing silhouettes, selecting colours, fabrics and designs. Students are encouraged to concentrate on one project but they may work in more than one.
