Subject content Culture and new media; Media politics and representation of the body; Fashion photography and symbolical capital; Televison and fashion media image; Video art and fashion; Transcultural media scene; Print and electronical media and lifestyles; Spectacle and fashion icons; Semiotics of fashion text; Cyber-culture and critical deconstruction of the body; The role of fashion critics in new media; Performative arts and new media; Global capitalism and media imperialism; Ideology of corporative media; Fashion in the network society.
Aim of course The course open the possibilities of contemporary approcah to theory of new media (television, print and online journalism, video art and film) as the way of presentation fashion spectacle. Knowledge about meaning and function of new media in the discouzrse about contemporary fashion as media attraction offers the opportunity to learn something much more about the context of postmodern culture of spectacle. Fashion in new media is the totality of cultural turn from words to icons (fashion-iconic turn). Theoretical knowledge and experience in working together with new media are conditions for integration of fashion design in the world of mass communication and media events construction.
