Subject content The concept of semiotics; Semiotics of fashion and visual communication; The clothes as system of signs; Glossary of clothes; Signifier and sign in fashion; Individual fashion - context and personality; Types of fashion language; Fashion photograpgy and language; Body and ideology; Transgression and travesty of fashion; Functionality, social position and gender; Magical, ritual and sacral; Subcultural symbolisim and anti-fashion; Sexuality and lifestyles in the society of spectacle; Semiurgy of fashion and return of ethnicity.
Aim of course The course examines current semiotics investigations in the field of contemporary fashion. The development of semiotics as universal and applying humanistic science from language and analytical content of literature as text, beyond visual communication to fashion language open the productive connection between scientifically discourse and creative imagination. The course primarily intention is to articulate intermedial aspetcs and specific matter of new language about fashion.
