Subject content Contemporary fashion theories (psychoanalysis, anthropology, cultural studies); Fashion as the system of signs; Historical sources of fashion; Art and fashion; Social differentiation and cultural integration; Ephemerity of fashion and symbolical representation; Fashion as ideological system; Subcultures and streetstyles; Democratisation of fashion; The language of fashion; Fashion and society of spectacle; Lifestyles and fashion transformations; Fashion and postmodernism; Anti-fashion.
Aim of course The course is interdisciplinary approach to study of fashion system and examines appropriation the general and particular knowledge from theoretical perspective of fashion as specific culture of post-industrial society. Fashion theory includes very different humanistic and social sciences (cultural studies, anthropology, psychonalisis and sociology of fashion). Thje main goal is understanding the complex of intercultural and transcultural reality of the global age. The meaning of fashion phenomena in the total of manifestations and representations is ultimate purpose of the course.
