Subject content Philosophy and conceptual terms of the textile products quality. Quality and Quality Assurance (QA) - basic difference and particular aims. Characteristics and functions of QA. Quality control and physical testing of textile products: General principles; Test specimens and sampling; Reliability of testing and requirements; Atmospheric conditions. Quality evaluation and testing of relevant fibre, yarn and fabric properties: product type, dimensional and construction characteristics, tensile strength, flexibility and elasticity, performance characteristics (comfort, pilling tendency, tendency to static electricity, resistance to abrasion, water repellency, waterproofness, fireproofness), dimensional stability and colour fastness under the conditions of usage and product care.
Aim of course Acquisition of basic knowledge of quality and quality assurance of textile materials and products. Knowledge of the need of objective testing and quality evaluation; qualification for basic quality control and laboratory testing of textiles.
