ECTS 3
Knowledge verification preliminary exam
Lecture type lectures, practice
Exercise type laboratory practice
Subject content The introduction to objective measurement and evaluation of textiles and clothing. The mechanical and physical properties of textile fabrics at various loads and their role in engineering design and construction of textile products. The feel of textiles as a criterion of quality. Objective evaluation of mechanical and physical properties of textiles and leather, using sophisticated KES and FAST systems. The impact of mechanical and physical properties of textiles in transforming from the 2D into 3D shape, garment design and prediction of behaviour in manufacturing processes. The correlation of the 2D textiles mechanical property parameters and the quality of the garment appearance. Laboratory exercises are organised on the KES and FAST systems.
Aim of course The knowledge acquired offers specific insight into the mechanics of textiles at various loads, especially the aspects relating to the behaviour of textiles in garment manufacturing processes or the manufacture of other textile products, according to their purpose. The students will be able to predict the behaviour of textiles in real garment manufacturing processes, as well as to select the optimal fabric that could be used to design and manufacture the form aimed for and the quality of the garment appearance.
