PhD Research at the University of Zagreb Leads to Innovative Patent in Garment Sizing Technology

A significant research achievement has emerged from the Faculty of Textile Technology, University of Zagreb, with the official publication of a patent resulting from doctoral research conducted by PhD candidate Engr. Md. Eanamul Haque Nizam. The patented innovation focuses on the development of a novel Garment Size Chart Model, designed to improve the scientific accuracy and efficiency of garment sizing systems through advanced anthropometric analysis. The invention addresses one of the longstanding challenges in the apparel and textile industry developing reliable and standardized sizing solutions that better accommodate variations in human body dimensions. The patent represents a major outcome of Mr. Nizam's doctoral research and contributes to the advancement of clothing technology, anthropometry, and apparel engineering. The scientific foundation of innovation has also been recognized through publication in a prestigious Q1-ranked international journal, demonstrating both its academic significance and practical applicability for industry adoption. The research was conducted under the supervision of Emeritus Professor Darko Ujevic, a distinguished scholar in textile and clothing technology, with the support of Professor Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Honorable Vice Chancellor, BGMEA university of Fashion and Technology-BUFT as co-supervisor. Their guidance and expertise played a crucial role in transforming the research concept into a patented technological innovation. Speaking about the achievement, Mr. Nizam expressed his gratitude to his supervisors and the Faculty of Textile Technology for providing an outstanding research environment that encouraged innovation and academic excellence. "This patent is a significant milestone in my PhD journey and reflects years of dedicated research. I am deeply grateful to my supervisors, colleagues, and the University of Zagreb for their continuous support throughout this process," he stated. The innovation is expected to contribute to future developments in digital apparel design, mass customization, anthropometric data applications, and smart garment manufacturing systems.
