An Introduction to contemporary cultural theories (cultural studies, anthropology of culture, postmarxism, deconstructionism, simbolical interactionism); Historical articulation of the concept of culture from modern to postmodern age; Culture and civilisation; Cultura and the concept of society; Cultural Development and technological progress; Popular, mass and consumer culture; Counterculture and subcultures; Ideological mobilisation of the culture; National culture and World Culture; The place od culture in the age of globalisation; Culture and lifestyles; New media, communication and culture; Postmodern culture and postindustrial society; Multiculturalism and the new cultural identitities; The Body, fashion and cultural differences.
Aim of course
The course examines the appropriation of knowledge from contemporary social theory and sciences. An introduction to understanding of the complex of social relationships in the global age with central place of the concept of cultue is searching to analyse the process of establishing the new identitites and lifestyles. Theories of globalisation and cultural differences will be emphasized. It also includes some very specifical sociological examination like historical and systematically approaches to different stage of modernity.
