 Research and development accomplishments

  • • Application of interface phenomena on textiles in wet conditions includes Surface free energy and electrokinetic charge (zeta potential) to enhance the effects of finishing processes based on theoretical considerations of these phenomena (15 papers published).
  • • Produced a new cellulosic material by mercerization and cationizing cotton in the same bath by short-cationic compounds which retain all the favourable properties of mercerized cotton with a change of electrical charge which ensures further quality improvement (14 papers published).
  • • Surface modified polyester fabric with the addition of alkali accelerator - quaternary ammonium compounds and ethylene diamine (EDA) processed by low-and high-frequency ultrasound and lipase enzymes led to an improved of aesthetic appearance, increase whiteness and hydrophilicity (27 papers published).
  • • Application of micro and nanoparticles of natural zeolites in pretreatments for scattering UV radiation from cotton and polyester, thereby for increasing the efficiency of protection from unfavourable UV absorber (24 papers are published). Here a great contribution to this UV protection comes from fluorescent whitening agents.
  • • A high antimicrobial protection obtained first time with antibiotics, azalides, in the synergistic effect with natural zeolite nanoparticles (6 papers are published).
  • • Application of zeolite for protection against the fire with excellent results as contributing to the higher residue after combusting circle (8 papers are published).
  • • Possibility of application of zeolites for personal protection from radioactive contamination for application as composites for personal protection (9 papers are published).
  • • Cotton environmentally flame retardancy by using a wide range of silicone compounds in traditional finishing bath and procedure with reduced quantity of traditional compounds.
