Subject content Fabrics derived from weft single and double-jesey structures. Fabric structures with extreme properties - with longitudinal and transverse yarns. 3D products. Compressive stocking wear. Warp knitted fabric: open structures, closed structures, stable structures and three-dimensional structures. Mono-axial structures, bi-axial, multi-axial and composite fabrics. Directionally oriented structures. Technical knitted fabrics for automotive, geotextile, agriculture and medical purposes.
Aim of course In view of the uniqueness and challenge of knitted technical textiles students have to understand and apply the principles of textile sience and technology to provide solutions, in the main to technological problems but also often to engineering problems as well. With the emphasis on measurable textile perfomance in a particular field of application, students will learn to apply not only an intricate knowledge of fibres and knitted textile but also an understanding of the application for different purposes.
