Subject content
Mathematical foundations of computer graphics. Algorithms for creating 2D drawings: Bezier curves, B-splines, DDA, Bresenham. Polygonal fillings (flood fill - seed fill, line-clipping, polygon clipping, halftoning, dithering). Raster images and drawing formats, 2D animation, graphic standards. Brushes and art tools (brush palette, wet edges, brush moves, airbrush, paintbrush, history brush, eraser, pencil). Digital painting and retouching (foreground and background color, selecting color, color palettes, patterns, drop tool, mixing methods, staining, tools for focus, blur, sharpen, fading etc.). Layers and masks (using the layers palette, change the order of layers, hiding and showing layers, removing layers, working with multiple layers, methods of mixing layers, linking layers, merging layers, layer effects, the use of masks, use quick masks, layer mask, editing masks layer, removing the mask layer, layer masks and channels). Adding text on the image (text tools, character palette, paragraph palette, text settings, creating shadows, character cuts and fills, shine, creating effects of edges and embosses, distortion of the text). Special effects and useful tricks (insert images into letters, semitransparent letters, “Matrix” shading, perspective shadow, shadow adjustment to background, change color, depth of field, blending images into collage, fade, focus attention etc.). Corrections of grayscale and color photos (flash compensation, removing digital noise, shadow correction, removing red eye effect, correction of skin tones for photo printing, skin tones harmonization in the RGB color space, better automated color correction). Modeling tool, cutting tool, tool for deleting and rotation, tool for drawing polygons, tools for text.
Aim of course
Make student qualified for 2D drawing and 3D modeling, production of animations and technical documentation using computer. Teach students in computer graphic basics, fields of application and restrictions of particular methods.
