Subject content
Definition of science and scientific work. Significance of scientific and professional work for the development of Croatia and inclusion in the international environment. Communications in science.Paradigm of today's ways of communicaitons in science. Scientific activity and research. Classification of scientific methods. Methods of scientific research in the field of technical sciences. Technology of scientific research.Elements of scientific research. Structure of scientific and professional part. Journal as a key medium for scientific communications. Secondary information resources. Relevant databases: Chemical Abstracts, World Textile, Compendex, Science Citation index (SCI-expanded), JCR - Journal Citation Index - evaluation. Relevant database search. Full-text of database - ScienceDirect, Springer, Wiley, Blackwell etc. Evaluation of scientific work. Technical analysis of manuscripts.
Aim of course
The aim of this course is to introduce students to teaching methods and technology of scientific and professional work and to the significance of publishing their research results. A significant prerequisite of successfulness of scientific work is relevant literature searching in order to take note of actual problems in making investigation plans and to consider where scientific work could be published so as to be made available to world' scientific and professional public.
