Subject content

Division and labeling of yarn. Raw materials for yarn production. Procedures and techniques for yarn production. Construction parameters of different types of yarn. Structure and properties of ring-spun, rotor-spun, wrapped, aerodynamic, and friction yarns. Fancy yarns. Yarn with new properties. Yarn quality parameters. Production of yarn on a ring spinning machine. Production of spun yarn on a  machine with a hollow spindle. Raw materials for the production of nonwoven textiles. Procedures for manufacturing nonwoven textiles. Structure and properties of nonwoven textiles.

Aim of course

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the design and construction parameters of conventional and fancy yarns. Students will become familiar with the basic procedures for producing yarns from cotton, wool, and synthetic fibers, as well as mixtures of natural and synthetic fibers and their properties. As part of this subject, students will also be introduced to nonwoven textiles – the production and bonding processes, properties, and characteristics.
