Staff mobility

Staff mobility is a very important segment of the University of Zagreb internationalization, including various aspects of international activities.

The Erasmus+ program provides the teachers of higher education institutions as well as invited professionals from the business sector to teach at other institutions, and provides professional training opportunities for teaching and non-teaching staff, employed at higher education institutions.

Erasmus+ - KA 1 - Learning Mobility - mobility of individuals for teaching and training purposes includes:

  • Mobility within program countries (KA103)
    • destinations: so called program countries i.e. EU member states, as well as North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey.
    • possible mobility period: from approximately July 1 of the current year, to September 30 of the following calendar year.
  • Possible activities
    • Teaching - teaching staff at the University of Zagreb
    • Professional training of staff at companies or higher education institutions - job shadowing or (Erasmus) Staff Week for teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • Application process: candidates submit their applications directly to the University of Zagreb.
  • Announcement of the competition: once a year (late spring), possible extensions of the competition during the year.
  • Mobility between program and partner countries (KA107)
    • destinations: so called partner countries - target institutions with which the University of Zagreb has a bilateral Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement.
    • duration of individual mobility: minimum 5 days, maximum 2 months.
    • competition announcement: several times a year.

Staff mobility for teaching

In cases where the teaching is conducted in the member states of the program, the sending and receiving institution must be holders of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education and must sign an interinstitutional agreement.

In case of a partnership between a higher education institution and an organization of the business sector, a guest teacher activity program (Mobility Agreement) must be agreed before the start of the mobility period.

In all cases, the teacher activity must be integrated into the curriculum of the receiving institution.

In cases where the mobility comes from the business sector to the higher education institution, it is obligatory to submit an official invitation from the higher education institution. The higher education institution also runs the scholarship award process itself.

Staff mobility for training

The receiving higher education institution selects employees/candidates. The business sector institution, that is, the sending and receiving higher education institution, must, before the start of the mobility period, agree on a program that covers all activities to be performed by the guest teacher (Mobility Agreement).

In case of teaching mobility, the sending higher education institution or the receiving higher education institution that invites a professional from the business sector, submit the Erasmus+ mobility scholarship documents to the national agency (Agency for Mobility and EU Programs).

Individual teachers submit their documentation to their home (sending) institution, or the receiving institution, if they are teachers from the business sector.

The same applies for training mobility. The sending institution submits the documents to the national agency (Agency for Mobility and EU Programs), and the outgoing teacher or a non/-teching staff submits the documents to their home (sending) institution.
