Subject content
Definition of woven and knitted fabrics. Division of woven and knitted fabrics. Weaving patterns. Basic weaves: plain weave, twill and saten weaves. Basic knit structures: plain jersey, 1/1 rib, purl, interlock, warp knitted fabrics. Weaving and knitting yarns. Yarns from natural and man-made fibres. Weft and warp yarns, yarns for the production of outerwear and underwear. Fundamental construction parametars of woven and knitted fabrics. Analysis of woven and knitted fabrics. Division of fabrics in relation to application. Commercial characteristics of woven and knitted fabrics. Properties of woven and knitted fabrics.
Aim of course
The aim of the course is to familiarize the students with two mostly used textile fabrics, familiarization with woven and knitted fabrics. Recognition of diferent constructions of woven and knitted fabrics what is the basis of specific properties which determine the application of woven and knitted fabrics.
