Subject content

Geometric and spatial properties of composites (share, size, shape, distribution and orientation). Macro, mezzo and micro scale. Nanocomposites. Particle-reinforced composites (large particles and dispersion reinforcements). Fiber-reinforced composites (continuous or discontinuous). Structural composites (laminates, sandwiches). Hybrid organic/inorganic composites. Duromer and elastomer (rubber coated) composites. Joining of composites, reinforcement and matrix. Plant fibres (flax, hemp, jute) as reinforcing components in plastomer composites. Polymer fibre-reinforced composites (glass, carbon, aramide, polyethylene etc.). 3D fibrous composites. Fibre orientation. Multilayered and planar weaving structure as a method of reinforcement. Two-dimensional layers. Three- dimensional reinforcement by the aid of weaving, knitting and sewing. Procedures of surface modification and coating. Physical-chemical phenomena in material scales. ""Intelligent"" materials. Measurement of microstructure and characteristics of ""intelligent"" materials under environmental conditions (temperature, mechanical load, chemical actions, electrical and magnetic field, light etc.), eco-composites.

Aim of course

Acquiring basic contents of composite material. Solving simple problems from the field of composite material. New kinds of composites, eco-composites, ""intelligent"" materials.
