THE COURSE CONTENT
Getting to know international symbols for clothing care according to ISO and GINETEX. Stains and methods of their removal. Processes of washing, dry cleaning and cleaning in water - means, technology and ecological aspect. Care of new textiles. Care of clothes with applications (leather, effective threads...). Damages during the care of clothes. The laboratory work contains quick ways to determine the sensitivity of certain materials, combinations and colorations in order to properly declare and avoid claims in clothing care. A visit to a dry cleaner that has the most up-to-date technology for removing dirt, cleaning and ironing.
OUTCOMES
The student will be able to:
• describe the processes of clothing care from a technological aspect
• optimize production procedures and consider the potential risks of inadequate care
• technologically improve the making of clothes with durable properties in maintenance
• analyze and improve process parameters
• analyze existing processes and propose improvements in accordance with innovations in the field of clothing care
THE AIM
Students will acquire basic knowledge about clothing care processes. During the class, they will become familiar with all important technological parameters in the relation to the care process in aqueous and non-aqueous media. Through the analysis of the behavior of clothes in care, students will see the importance of the influence of clothing making: fusing, selection of sewing thread, selection of lining and interlining, on care possibilities. They will learn about the processes of maintaining clothes with effective threads, applications and built-in elements of leather and fur. They will learn about clothing damage in textile care and complaints related to the assembly process. Students will adopt alternative clothing care procedures.
