The Department organizes and holds classes in the field of design and production of yarns, woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, technical textiles and nonwovens, which is continuously updated in accordance with the novelties and trends of the international market.

Considering the great changes at the global level, due to which employers are showing an increasing interest in hiring professionals with technological know-how and business issues, the Department enables students to acquire management and business knowledge that enables them, by attending the study module Textile Design and Management, to take on leadership roles.

The Department's professors are leaders of international and domestic competitive scientific, technological and other projects, For many years have been cooperating with related faculties and institutes at home and abroad. The Croatian section of the International Federation of Knitting Technologists has its headquarters at the Department, and the members of the Department are extremely active in the work of the Croatian Ergonomics Society and the Croatian Leather and Shoemakers Society.
