Laboratory for thermophysiological comfort of textiles

The laboratory for thermophysiological comfort of textiles measures the objective parameters of thermophysiological comfort of textiles, thermal resistance (Rct) and water vapor resistance (Ret).

The thermal resistance of a textile fabric is a quantitative assessment of the thermal insulation of a subject wearing a particular garment, while the water vapor resistance is the fundamental parameter of a garment that maintains the human body in thermal equilibrium with the environment.

The laboratory is equipped with a device called Hot Plate (Sweating Guarded Hot Plate, model 8.2.), Manufactured by Thermetrics, USA. The device simulates the transfer of heat and moisture of the human body through the flat product to the environment. The device is located in a chamber for adjusting various ambient conditions (temperature and relative humidity).
