Laboratory for physical and chemical testing of textiles

Within this laboratory, a numerous basic physical-chemical tests of various textile materials (qualitative and quantitative chemical textile analysis, amount of preparations, damages of textile materials, determination of degree of polymerization and molecular mass of cellulose as natural polymer, dimensions and shape stability after wet processes, color fastness in the procedures of care and application of products, etc.) are carried out, both for the teaching process and for scientific research and cooperation with the economy. In addition to the suitability for basic tests unavoidable in the quality control of textiles in accordance with standard requirements, the laboratory is also equipped for testing of certain functional properties in accordance with the requirements for modern textile materials of special and high properties. This primarily refers to the assessment of comfort based on sorption characteristics, water- and oleophobicity of textiles, water resistance at high hydrostatic pressure, liquid absorption capacity (LCA, Run-off) and special methods related to burning resistance testing, in accordance with the intended purpose of textile material (protective clothing, textiles for furniture and construction,etc.).
