Subject content

An overview of crucial stages in the development of modern art and design since the end of the 19th century till this day. Looking at the transformations of both wider and narrower life frame as result of a new, technological environment. A new attitude towards the object: applied arts and design. Creation of styles in art: from impressionism to abstract art. Trends in art and design till the end of the 20th century.

Aim of course

Enabling students to apprehend processes which have changed the entire visual frame of human life in the 20th century; opening up towards comprehension of modern world, as well as to draw awareness to the importance of art and design as direct expression of modernity. Developing ability to critically ponder on reality.
