Subject content
Statics: reduction of force systems, equilibrium conditions, internal forces and moments in the bar cross section. Strenght of materials: concepts of stress and strain, Hooke's law, stresses in the bars in axial loading, shear, torsion and bending. Kinematics of particle: rectilinear, curvilinear and relative motion. Kinematics of rigid bodies: rotation and planar motion. Analysis of planar machinery by velocity and acceleration vector diagrams. Dynamics of particle: Newton's law and D'Alembert's principle, laws of momentum and energy. System of particles and rigid body: laws of motion, inertia properties. Introduction to mechanical vibrations.
Aim of course
Acquiring basic contents of statics, strength of materials, kinematics and dynamics. Solving simple problems from the field of engineering mechanics.
