EXERCISE TYPE

Laboratory, tour of professional stakeholders

THE COURSE CONTENT

Historical development of textile care processes (Washing, Dry cleaning, Cleaning in water and Shampooing). Individual washing parameters: Water, Textiles, Dirt, Detergents. Primary and secondary effects. Machines for continuous and discontinuous washing, machines for drying, ironing and "finishers" for workwear. Dry cleaning solvents, boosters and dry cleaning technology. Cleaning, filtration and distillation process. Subsequent processing. Cleaning textile floor coverings. Possible damage and claims in textile care. Ecological aspect in textile care processes. Exercises are laboratory and operational. In the laboratory, they learn about textile care products and the examination of primary and secondary effects during care.

OUTCOMES

The student will be able to:
• optimize textile care processes respecting the synergy of physical and chemical factors
• apply acquired knowledge in practice and control the quality of performance
• analyze and improve process parameters of care in accordance with the development of technology and ecology
• improve the textile care processes based on the analysis of critical control points
• analyze the critical control points of the textile care process control

THE AIM

Students will acquire basic knowledge about textile care processes. The student will become familiar with all important technological parameters in the framework of the care process in aqueous and non-aqueous media. Through the analysis of the behavior of textiles in water and solvents, detergents, boosters. The most important individual process parameters: temperature, mechanics and time as well as their synergy will be considered in connection to properties of textiles. By analyzing the influence of certain technological parameters and environmental profiles, the aspect of human ecology and risk analysis, students should understand the importance of ecology.
