Subject content

Key functions of clothing engineering design. Design of clothing based on mechanical properties of textile materials. Influence of the fabric's mechanic on their reshape and on garment appearance quality. Formability. Elastic potential. Draping as an aesthetic performance of clothing appearance. Impact of fabric mechanical properties on garment fall and draping, 3D shape of a garment, quality of fitting, visual appearance of produced seems as criterion of clothing appearance quality. Engineering design the garment system in terms of thermo physiological comfort, skin-sensory, mechanical and ergonomic comfort. Qualitative evaluation and prediction of fabric behaviour in garment manufacturing processes, design of wishful form – 3D shape and garment appearance, simulation its drape ability and prediction of garment appearance quality using measuring date of mechanical properties of fabrics.

Aim of course

The student familiarizes himself/herself with key functions of clothing engineering design and fabric mechanics from point of complex geometrical structures as scientific education and acquires knowledge of individual research work in the engineering design of garment. Mastering the specific knowledge will enable the students to adopt a scientific approach to the investigation development of systematically planning and optimization of clothing, resp. clothing system.
