Subject content

Correlation between the chemical structure of organic molecules and their colour. Quantitative tretment of light adsorption by dyes (quantum chemical methods). Emision of radiation and radiationless transition of molecules. Basic concept of photochemistry. Chemical constitution and energy deactivation of dyes. Clasification of dyes based on chemical structure. (class of dyestaffs). Electronic effect of the supstituent to the conjugated system of coloured organic molecules. Influence of solvent and pH to the colour. Photochemical transformation and degradation of dyestuffs (UV, ozone). Analysis, ecology and toxicology of colorants.

Aim of course

Conection between the structure of organic molecules in the dyestuffs with their physical and chemical properties.
